TerraNova
Norm Referenced Results - Spring 2009
A Quick Explanation of a “Norm-Referenced” Test
A “Norm-Referenced” test, such as the new “TerraNova” provides a comparison to every other student and school in the country. A “norm referenced” test means that a score of 50 is the average for all students taking the test. A score of 66 would mean it is 16% higher than the average and in the top one-third of all students in the country. A score of 25 would mean it is 25% below the average and in the bottom one-fourth of all students that took the test.
