![]() Each year, hundreds of teachers from all across the country submit original lesson plan units to the Core Knowledge Foundation in hopes of having their lesson chosen as an exemplary application of Core Knowledge integration that excites learners. These lessons are hands-on applications of the challenging Core Knowledge curriculum, such as the ones your child or children enjoy each day here at Challenge. When chosen, teachers are invited to present these top-notch lessons to other teachers at the annual conference. It was no surprise to us that the Foundation again loved our teachers’ lessons as much as your kids do! Despite the hundreds of lessons submitted from across the country, Challenge teachers had the honor of being chosen in 5 different grade categories: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. Thanks in part to your support of CCS fundraising activities and also to CCS’s commitment to the benefit of professional development, two representatives from each chosen grade were able to travel to D.C. to represent CCS. Congratulations to Mrs. Borcich, Mrs. Owens, Ms. Hart, Ms. Gosselin, Ms. Neitch, Ms. LaConte, Mrs. Ruckh, Ms. Propp, Mrs. Tamayo, and Mr. DeRuyter. The Core Knowledge conference provides many enriching learning opportunities that these teachers can share with your students. These teachers will also teach other CCS staff members about what they learned during in-service training, so that all teachers and students will benefit from this activity as well. Challenge attended and has been honored at 8 annual Core Knowledge conferences! |
